GE, SAP agreement to improve enterprise integration

End-users and original equipment manufacturers could have an easier time moving information between the plant floor and the enterprise after a GE Fanuc Automation sales and marketing agreement with SAP America announced Oct. 18. The move allows the companies to jointly market GE Fanuc Production Management solutions and SAP Production Execution services.
The companies say closed-loop information exchange with the SAP Business Suite will ease plant floor and enterprise integration, increase quality, drive productivity, and enable success in key business initiatives, such as Lean Six Sigma, regulatory compliance and efficiency.
Other programs under the agreement include development of specialized professional services to support customers with planning, design, and implementation of the solutions.
John Dyck, GE Fanuc global director of production management, suggested the collaboration will identify constraints in real-time, ensure “right-first-time” production, managing production sequences, and limit warranty and recall exposure.
