Wi-Fi measurement system

Staff -- Control Engineering, 11/1/2006

Networks/Wireless/Instrumentation

Wireless Wizard 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz Wi-Fi measurement system from Bantam Instruments includes a handheld spectrum analyzer and directional and omni-directional antennas in a small, lightweight carrying case. System can be recharged or powered using any line voltage or 12-V dc vehicle accessory power outlets. A 2.4- to 6.0-GHz log periodic directional antenna can be used to find Wi-Fi access ports and sources of interference. Broad frequency range covers all Wi-Fi channels; small size makes it easy to carry. Antenna factors are stored within the spectrum analyzer so measurements can be made in field strength, dBìV/m. Package, including software to download data to a PC, costs $2,950. www.bantaminstruments.com
