High accuracy time-stamping software

Software-only implementation of the IEEE 1588 precision time protocol (PTP) from Real-Time Systems GmbH reportedly eliminates the need for hardware-based time-stamping and delivers possible accuracies of ±5 ìs or better. Software is applicable in instrumentation, automation systems, and process control networks. Product includes all servo algorithms, regulators, filters, PTP-clock based on hardware timer, and direct timer access. IEEE 1588 stack is tested and comes with documentation and an example implementation on VxWorks for x86. Software protocol stack is available with source code to qualified customers. www.real-time-systems.com
