Let your choice be known

Renee Robbins, Editorial Director -- Control Engineering, 1/1/2007

Just as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year is “you,” you are also one of our best resources for identifying the most innovative and useful hardware and software products for the jobs you do.

The annual Control Engineering product awards competition is upon us, and we are seeking nominations.

New this year is a nominating process that lets anyone submit a product for award consideration. A panel of judges will then select the Engineers Choice winners based on three evaluation criteria: technological advancement, market impact, and service to the industry. Control Engineering editors are busy reviewing prior coverage, vendors will be telling us why their products ought to win, and I very much want to hear from end users and system integrators. Tell us what new product had the biggest impact on you in 2006.

Whether you are a current user or just want to be, let me know what makes that product unique and award-worthy in your eyes. Eligible products are those introduced in North America and available for purchase between December 1, 2005, and December 31, 2006, in the areas that Control Engineering covers:

  • process and advanced control;
  • machine and embedded control;
  • motors, drives, and motion control;
  • human-machine interfaces and industrial PCs;
  • instrumentation and control components;
  • application and programming software;
  • networks and communications hardware and software.

Formerly called the Editors’ Choice Awards, the Engineers’ Choice Awards will be announced online and in a print supplement in April. (See the online archive for January 2006 to see last year’s winners.) Only e-mail or Word document nominations will be accepted, and the nominating phase ends January 30th.

So visit www.controleng.com/awards now to find out the details. Fill out the form yourself or encourage your supplier to do so. Let your choice be known and your voice be heard.
