Process ControlVersion 7 of Simatic PCS 7 process automation system from Siemens Energy and Automation Inc. gives plant operators new ways to minimize total cost of ownership, protect automation assets, increase plant availability, minimize downtime, optimize process performance, and modernize existing installed systems. New capabilities offered include configuration/change management, redundant fieldbus with safety communication, integration with Foundation Fieldbus, smart alarm management, industrial/cyber security and plant asset management, and condition monitoring. Enhancements are said to help plants implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize costs. www.usa.siemens.com
