Lancom Systems introduces its first Power-over-Ethernet switch
-- Control Engineering, 6/5/2007
Aachen, Germany—Lancom Systems introduced its first Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch, ES-1108P. Quality and reliability in convergent networks depends heavily on the quality of network switches, particularly where VoIP and WLAN are involved. PoE is also playing an increasingly important role. This new switch is optimally attuned to the company’s product portfolio. The new switch facilitates the integrated networking of home offices, companies, branch offices, VoIP (voice over IP) telephones, and WLAN access points. Prior PoE switches were too heavy or too expensive, the company says.
It has eight Fast Ethernet ports, four with standards-compliant Power over Ethernet. Status of the connections and PoE are clearly displayed on the front of the device. It has an integrated power adapter and can be mounted in 19-in. cabinets.
