CANopen enabled servo motor controller

Staff -- Control Engineering, 8/1/2007

Low cost CANopen servo motor controller, Silverdust IGC, from QuickSilver Controls Inc., is a single axis controller which can be configured for peer-to-peer, master, or slave, allowing the controllers to share I/O with other CANopen enabled Silverdust controllers or third party CAN-open devices. The controller includes serial communications (RS-232, RS-485), CANopen, and 7 I/O. The serial network runs in parallel to CANopen for supervisory control from a host.

The IGC is designed to serve Quicksilver’s NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 frame I-grade servo motors and includes breakouts for power and communications. For a multi-axis system, several IGCs can be connected with one as the master and the others receiving motion commands over CANopen. The controller features 12-48V DC input power, built-in voltage clamp/braking resistor, 4 analog inputs, and 32K non-volatile memory. www.QuickSilverControls.com QuickSilver Controls
