Low-cost USB digital multimeter

By Staff -- Control Engineering, 9/1/2007

Keithley Instruments’ model 2100 6½-digital USB digital multimeter is a high precision, low-cost USB-based instrument ideal for a wide range of production test, burn-in, and manual and semi-automatic R&D applications in bench, portable, or small system measurement configurations. It features precision 10 V dc accuracy of 39 ppm, 6½-digit resolution at a measurement rate of 50 readings/second over the USB bus. At 4½ digits, the device reads more than 2,000 readings per second into its internal data buffer.

The most commonly measured parameters are covered, including volts, ohms, amps, and RTD temperature measurement capability. Model 2100 also offers selectable front and rear inputs and 2- and 4-wire remote sense resistance inputs that facilitate use as both a stand-alone, benchtop DMM or in small systems applications.

The meter includes KI-Tool, a built-in graphic utility that enables trend plotting and data transfer to a PC. It also includes an add-in tool that is used for importing data directly into Microsoft Excel and Word documents. USB drivers are provided with each Model 2100 DMM. www.keithley.com Keithley Instruments Inc.
