Servomotors with higher moment of inertia
-- Control Engineering, 1/1/2008
Beckhoff Automation has expanded its drive technology products with the AM3500 Series servomotors. A higher moment of inertia makes them suitable for machine tool axes with stringent synchronism requirements. The motors can eliminate a gear box in high inertia applications such as rotary tables. Motor flanges, connectors, and shafts are compatible with the company’s AM3000 motors. The AM3500 models come in flange sizes 3 to 6, torques between 1.9 and 15 Nm, and rated speeds of 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. Resolvers or absolute encoders (single- or multi-turn) are available as a feedback system. The standard protection class is IP 64 with IP 65/67 an option. The series is CE-, UL- and CSA-listed. Based on new material and manufacturing technologies, the motors provide the features of AM3000 low-inertia servomotors, including compact size, achieved via pole-wound stator winding. www.beckhoffautomation.com Beckhoff Automation
