Engineers Week: Feb. 17-23, fun, useful things to do, diversity

Alexandria, VA – So what are your plans for Engineers Week 2008, coming up Feb. 17-23? If you have no plans, it’s not too late, according to organizers, the National Society of Professional Engineers. Learn what’s going on and how to help. Leave a few minutes for this one; you’re going to want to look around. 

Purpose of Engineering Week includes mentoring and encouraging other engineers, and those who might pursue the profession. Engineers Week 2008, co-chaired by IBM Corp. and the Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA, includes year-round activities, reacing several million people worldwide. Emphasis this year is on expanding diversity in the engineering field and in the workplace. The Engineers Week 2008 Website provides more information about activities, including:

  • Bold visions on public television;
  • Girls Wanna Have Fun: Advice for your Event;
  • Greeting to Engineers from President Bush;
  • Artwork: poster and logo downloads;
  • Activity roundup;
  • Connecting engineering educators;
