The IR5000 open path hydrocarbon gas detector from General Monitors features an expanded distance range of 130 m, providing increased versatility in an open path gas detection system. Accurate single gas detection beam technology improves accuracy, reduces drift, and raises immunity to false alarms. The IR5000 offers a new option for protecting people, equipment, and facilities from dangerous low concentrations of hydrocarbon gas leaks. It detects gas leaks with high sensitivity and operates as a hazardous situation monitor for higher gas concentrations. The open path monitoring unit is designed for detection of hydrocarbon gases in the 0-5,000 ppm and 0-5 LEL meter ranges. Included in the fault diagnostics is a continuous optical path check; fault alarms will occur if the optics are dirty, or if the IR signal is weak or blocked, or if an instrument malfunction takes place.
