Tire making quality control
-- Control Engineering, 3/1/2008
Making rubber tires involves a complex, multi-faceted manufacturing process. To enhance production, Honeywell has introduced the MXProLine Wire Calendar Quality Control System (QCS), a next-generation system that enhances visibility and automation of quality parameters for the wire calendering process in tire making. The system's measurement speed and profile modeling capabilities contribute to operational efficiency and productivity. It includes advanced signal processing, precise streak detection algorithms, and intuitive operator screens for visibility into wire cord faults or other defects. High-performance sensors provide independent measurements of total weight, top and bottom gum weight, wire weight, wire cord count, wire spacing, and the gum-edge-to-first-cord measurement. The system measures the true coating on the top and bottom of the wire. The sensor package detects wire faults in the calendering process without having to wait for defects to be identified in final inspection. www.honeywell.com/ps Honeywell
