CSIA records set: New members, May 1-4 conference

-- Control Engineering, 5/1/2008

Exton, PAControl System Integrators Association (CSIA) continued to expand membership in first quarter while registration for the annual Executive Conference, May 1-4, set a record pace. The increases follow higher 2007 membership at the “world’s largest association for control system integrators,” CSIA said.

Integrators and automation product and service suppliers worldwide joined the organization at record pace during first-quarter 2008, bringing CSIA membership to more than 325. To qualify for membership, a control system integrator must have achieved annual engineering and integration services revenues of at least $600,000 during the three-year period prior to CSIA application and maintain that minimum level as a member).

The 2008 CSIA Executive Conference, May 1-4 in Savannah, GA, will be the largest in the association’s 16-year history based on “confirmed registration for more than 300 attendees,” said Norman O’Leary, CSIA executive director, prior to the meeting. Attendees include member firm’s executives, managers, and control system professionals, reflecting “the parallel ‘business’ and ‘execution’ sessions we introduced last year,” he said. “Mirroring our global reach and the growing worldwide market for control system integration services,” O’Leary continued, “is the score of countries throughout the Western Hemisphere, and in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Middle East where CSIA members are located. For example, during our first quarter we added another member in Hawaii along with firms from Brazil and Canada.”

Similar diversity will also be reflected among the attendees at the upcoming Executive Conference, as members from as far away as Australia and Russia will be joined in Savannah by the majority of the nation’s and world’s largest automation suppliers.

“Our supplier’s event has been oversubscribed as well for some time now,” O’Leary commented, “as automation hardware, software and communications product suppliers gather for a unique opportunity to meet firsthand with hundreds of the world’s biggest and best system integrators.”

Control System Integrators Association is in its second decade of helping better system integrators become better business managers. O’Leary made the comments in an April 15 statement.
