Software: Better modeling, training for process control systems

St. Louis, MO – Release of MiMiC v3.0.0 from Mynah Technologies supports all open OPC process control system platforms, including HIMA, Emerson Process Management, Rockwell Automation, and Schneider Electric process control systems. It includes improved modeling and operator training functionality.

MiMiC v 3.0.0 is a third-generation .NET simulation software that is graphical, flexible, and powerful, Mynah says. 

It can be quickly implemented by users and system integrators and provides non-intrusive simulation interfaces to minimize control system changes, allow for systems testing, and secure control system integrity, the company says.

Perhaps the most significant improvement, Mynah says, in MiMiC's third-generation simulation is the added modeling functionality that saves time and money and allows users to create advanced models of complex plants. The MiMiC v3 conversion tool alone saves simulation development time by 10%. MiMiC v3 provides high-fidelity unit operations modeling with intuitive wizard-driven configurations and powerful data visualization tools.

System components include: MiMiC Explorer with system and simulation management; Simulation Studio with simulation building and on-line viewing; MView with real-time, configurable tables of MiMiC data; Component Studio with dynamic process flow diagrams linked to MiMiC and OPC Data; Data Monitor with dynamic trends of MiMiC and OPC data; Operator Training Manager; Diagnostics; DeltaV Simulation Generator; License Manager; and Online Help.

MiMiC v3.0.0:

-Simulated IO drivers feature DeltaV Railbus with a virtual IO module; DeltaV Simulate OPC; and Schneider Unity OPC (OFS v3.2); and open OPC.

-Modeling features new discrete tieback (DTB), loop tieback (LTB) blocks; calc block allows comments, 4,000 characters expression; new ramp, conditional (CND) blocks; new steam properties, thermodynamic properties blocks; upgraded modeling block – HX; and engineering unit conversions.

-Operator Training Manager features complete training scenario building by data browsing (no scripting); unlimited malfunctions per scenario with triggers and cleanup; unlimited integrated scoring conditions per malfunction; and session reporting.

-Data Access & Control features simulation database control; full MiMiC services control; and import / export via OPC Server integrated into base product.

May 2008 MiMiC v3 software release includes the following functionality: MiMiC v2.x to v3 simulation file migration; MiMiC Server (will require MS Server 2003); HIMA software PLC SIO driver and utility; Bailey Infi 90 / previse soft controller SIO driver; operator training manager runs as Service; OTM controls through MiMiC OPC server; and numerous usability enhancements under consideration.
