Alarm management: Tool eases creation, management of alerts

-- Control Engineering, 6/12/2008

Houston, TX—PAS, a supplier of software products and engineering consulting services for the process industries, has released Operator Alert, a Web interface for creating and editing alerts for managing process operations. Alerts can be based on process conditions or timers.

The new tool works in conjunction with AMO-Rt, the company’s real-time alarm and event management software suite, which provides alarm and event data collection and analysis, performance metrics, documentation and rationalization, state-based alarm handling, flood suppression, and alarm shelving. Operator Alert has both Web and Microsoft Windows interfaces, and alerts can be configured to notify individuals or groups of operators.

PAS, established in 1993, also provides automation configuration management, control loop performance monitoring, real-time performance metrics management, and knowledge management tools. More information is available through the PAS blog.
