Redundant data acquisition

-- Control Engineering, 7/1/2008

Dataforth Corp.’s isoLynx SLX200 industrial data acquisition system can be applied across all types of redundant configurations. The dual-Ethernet model of the isoLynx SLX200 family offers two independent, 10Base-T Ethernet ports to implement Modbus TCP protocol. Simultaneous communication with both Ethernet ports is supported, and each supports up to four socket connections at TCP port 502. Each can service up to four Modbus TCP commands at a time. The acquisition system is fast, intelligent, modular, fully isolated, and fully certified by the Modbus-IDA organization and compatible with OPC, ensuring easy integration onto existing Modbus networks. It interfaces with more than 650 SCM5B analog I/O modules. isoLynx SLX200 offers flexibility for factory automation, process control, test and measurement, machine control, and data acquisition applications. SLX200 hardware and SCM5B signal conditioning modules exceed 500,000 hours MTBF. Detailed graphic examples of five redundancy methods are available on the Website.
