New configuration tool for CANopen

-- Control Engineering, 7/8/2008

Weingarten, Germany – Configuring a CANopen network may be easier with release of 1.6 of the CANopen ConfigurationStudio, which offers an extended version of the universal CANopen network configuration tool from Ixxat Automation.

CANopen ConfigurationStudio 1.6 from Ixxat Automation eases configuration of a CANopen network.
CANopen ConfigurationStudio 1.6 from Ixxat Automation is said to simplify configuration of a CANopen network.

CANopen ConfigurationStudio 1.6 simplifies configuration of PDO messages within the Visual Object Linker. PDO configuration is performed by drag-and-drop operations, so even users without in-depth knowledge of fundamental CANopen mechanisms can operate the tool.

Enhancements include a redesign of the CANopen Device Configurator plug-in to enable extensive configuration of CANopen Manager devices according to CiA 302. Configuration of node guarding and error behavior was simplified and a new front-end for LSS Master services was implemented.

To access the CANopen bus, an Ixxat CAN interface with an installed VCI 3.1 driver is necessary. CANopen ConfigurationStudio can be used on systems running Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP (32 and 64 bit), and Microsoft Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit).
