Team #13 CyberRider
July 25, 2007
Team #13 on my list is CyberRider. Ivar Schoenmeyr is the Team Leader and spokesperson for the team. A few months ago he posted this notice to the Forum that Urban Challenge team leaders frequent.
4/18/2007 "Due to lack of adequate funding we (Team CyberRider) decided to withdraw our entry from this year's Challenge. Instead we are channeling our efforts into Team Thunderbird's open source entry and would encourage any other team that dropped out to do the same. In fact we are heading up to Vancouver on May 5 to partake in one of their work sessions and get a better feel for exactly where they are at."

This notice is something of a surprise because watching Team CyberRider over the years, they were doing a lot of things right. Their website is very good. They have some top notch sponsors. They have been in earlier races. While not one of the eleven teams to get a DARPA development grant, they seemed to be making good progress. Their earlier vehicles showed good craftsmanship.

This picture of an earlier vehicle shows the size of the vehicles that the team has been working with.
