Accelerated Development
February 20, 2008

AIM Team technology demonstration truck out back of the 4-Mile Rd. workshop.

Army logistics people I have spoken to say that if they were given their choice, they would like to have a lot of small trucks, like this 2-1/2 ton, rather than a few large trucks.  Small trucks would carry one customers order for supplies directly to them and then return to the supply depot, greatly simplifying the distribution problem.  Larger trucks are currently being used because of the driver shortage.  Trucks that can drive themselves would not need soldiers to drive them.

Here is a list of companies and agencies that sent representatives to the Intelligent Vehicle Technology Transfer seminar.  The meeting was to highlight what has been acomplished and invent a way by which results can be shared.  How to do this without giving away trade secrets and protect individual interests remains to be discovered.
