Process industry milestone: birth of the beer can
January 24, 2008

Just in case you missed it, today is the anniversary of beer sold in cans. Yes, on January 24, 1935, Krueger's Beer and Cream Ale went on sale in Richmond, Virginia. That event changed one large process industry forever.

Apparently the venture was well received, with most drinkers reportedly saying that canned beer tasted more like draft than bottled beer. The rest is, as they say, history. Just for fun, open one tonight the old fashioned way, with a church key, if you can still find one. Skol!
