Read the Online Extra--WirelessHART
August 16, 2007
There are articles that I enjoy working on particularly, and these tend to run long because there's so much to say. There is a special industrial wireless supplement with our August issue and I wrote a lengthy article about three specific platforms. I had intended for that to be three plus one in that there was supposed to be an additional sidebar on WirelessHART. Unfortunately, there wasn't room in the print version for the sidebar, but you can read it online if you look at the article version on our Website.
Anyone considering wireless instrumentation should at least look at WirelessHART. Each situation will dictate whether it's the right path or not, but it will likely come before any of the other standards still in process and manufacturers are getting ready to roll out products as soon as it is finalized.
You can start by reading the sidebar in the context of the larger article discussion.
