Emerson Global Users Exchange, Day 4
September 13, 2007
So far we haven't had any guest blog contributions yet, so I'll do my best.
Yesterday, one of the Exchange board members, Christoph Lebl came to the Exchange Today newsroom and was rather keen on us running an article about how the PlantWeb feedback process is working. We are running the article in tomorrow's edition, but this is particularly interesting and reflects Emerson's desire to make PlantWeb an effective tool. They solicit suggestions from PlantWeb users aggressively, even to the extent of offering a drawing for a 32" LCD flat screen TV from the suggestions submitted. That offer is running currently and details are on the Exchange Website.
Here's a portion of the article on how they have put the suggestions to work:
"More than two years ago the Emerson Global Users Exchange Board of Directors (Board) and the PlantWeb Leadership Team (PLT) recognized that no formal feedback process existed for ideas/suggestions/enhancements that “crossed” multiple divisions within Emerson. The Board worked closely with the Emerson PlantWeb Leadership team on a new Top Ten initiative to address these issues, and thereby provide additional value to its customers.
This is in effect the second year of this initiative. Last year well over a 100 suggestions were received, 92 of which were truly PlantWeb suggestions.
The Top Ten Enhancement Program allows Emerson Global Users Exchange members to participate directly in Emerson’s product development plans. Each year users are asked to submit PlantWeb product enhancements suggestions. Exchange members are then asked to vote for the 10 PlantWeb Enhancement Suggestions that they would most like to see Emerson include in upcoming product releases.
Of the top 10 suggestions submitted last year, 7 are currently planned, one is complete, 1 will be partially implemented and 1 is not planned for the immediate future. “This equates to at least an 80% success rate which is truly outstanding for our inaugural year.”
The number 1 voted suggestion in 2006 was that Emerson 'do away with licensing for diagnostic DST's - hence do away with having customers incur a charge for these DST’s. This enhancement will allow customers to receive the full benefits of PlantWeb.' This suggestion will become a reality in Version 11 DeltaV."
If you have a suggestion in mind, you need to act quickly if you want to be eligible for the TV drawing. That closes September 28. Check out the Website for details.
