With apologies to the washing machine
In my last posting, I said our new washing machine plays (beeps) a snippet of Mozart when it's done with a load. The more I thought about that, the more I thought I was wrong, but I just couldn't place the tune.
Yesterday it came to me. It isn't Mozart, it's Franz Schubert. The tune is his trout lieder, "Die Forelle," which he also uses in his "Trout Quintet." Maybe there's somebody at the Maytag plant in Iowa (which I understand is closing) who likes fishing.
