Back to Work 2008

Over the holidays we completed the central SCADA graphics and database. Moving on to completing final documentation.
Still waiting on City to decide how they wish to proceed with alarm notification. The old system used a single Nextel cell phone that was given to the maintenance person on call. Notifications were one deep to this phone only via voice.
Consideration is being given to switching to Verizon, possibly a rugged smart phone that could receive voice alarm notifications, with several levels of notification to backup maintenance personnel. The phone could be setup to save alarm notification messages (text messaging) or even remotely view key site data and alarm histories via the phone's web browser.
We heard the prime consultant was at the station earlier this week to review the installation. Not sure if this is at all related to our proposal for completing the work (see Nov 27th entry).
