Master Planning Takes Another Step Forward
July 24, 2007
July 24th by Stan Prutz
Spoke with the primary consultant's lead project engineer today regarding the City's waste water control system master planning. We discussed key issues and key personnel to be invited to participate in planning. We provided him information to access the pump station SCADA system we have in development. He is currently projecting completing an initial plan submittal within the next 60 days.
Today we added a monitor to the SCADA server system that will now email us within 30 minutes if the site becomes inaccessible for any reason. At this stage in the systems development, the City's usage is mostly unattended. The system sends alarm notifications to a designated maintenance cell phone and logs data for historical trends and reports. Given this, we have found we need an independent monitoring of the system to receive timely feedback on access problems. As a side benefit, the monitoring service maintains an up-time report we can use to record system operational reliability.
