Refinement for the line in the sand between ISA88 Part 1 and Part 5
April 15, 2008

As both of these groups, ISA88 Part 1 and Part 5, continue to develop and move forward I’d like to share a newer vision of Make2Pack as represented in the attached diagram.
Needed: An interface between recipe control and detailed equipment control.

The Make2Pack Part 5 effort is focused on the Process/Machine Task Strategy. To understand how that works with the rest of 88 there needs to be an interface between the recipe control (a term not currently found in ISA88 Part 1) of 88 and the detailed Equipment Control of Part 5.

The current thinking is that this interface occurs between the Recipe Phase Reference/Proxy in a Control recipe and the procedural logic found in the Equipment Phase that implements the intent of the Control Recipe by orchestrating the rest of equipment control by direction additional Equipment Phases, Equipment Sequencing Control, Basic Control, and Coordination Control.

Also see prior posting, Line in the sand: Equipment phase

Please understand that these efforts are evolving, names may be changed to protect the innocent in the future, and concepts rethought and re-presented. Progress is being made!

Add your comments, questions, cross references, or suggestions for better system integration of processes, packaging, and other machinery controls using the tools provided below, or contact me directly with contact information at the top of the Standard Profits: Make2Pack and ISA88 blog opening page.
