Visualization: Curved video walls benefit from new rear-projection displays Planar Systems, Inc. has launched Clarity RP and RX rear-projection displays, which deliver a high level of visual performance for control room environments. Available in 50- and 67-inch sizes and open or integrated system options, the lines feature Texas Instruments’ single-chip DLP with Planar’s Set It and Forget It (SiFi) technology, a proprietary feature that reduces time and expertise required to balance a video wall. The RP series is the first SiFi-equipped Clarity display geared for data-rich applications, such as running supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software or high-resolution satellite imagery/mapping. Control room design: 140-inch pre-packaged LED screen Control room designs now have a new option: a 140-inch-diagonal light-emitting diode (LED) monitor packaged to make installation easier and more efficient than with custom-made LED screens. The Resolia LED screen from Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division is designed primarily for applications including billboard advertising or informational displays in airports, sports arenas, and casinos.
Batch control: Next generation controller targets hydrocarbon-liquids measurement accuracy Changing industry standards, the high cost of hydrocarbon products, and the need to manage operation costs fueled the development of a new microprocessor-based batch delivery controller from Emerson Process Management. The DL8000 is the next generation of Emerson’s DanLoad line of Preset Controllers, designed to resolve batch control requirements for liquid custody transfer applications. Upgrade: Xinneng Energy implements new chemical process control system Looking to grow its business especially in Southeast Asian markets, Xinneng Energy Ltd. In Jiangsu Province, Zhangjiagang, China, has implemented Proficy Process Systems from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms division in a high availability architecture. Xinneng Energy, a supplier of energy-chemical products and services, produces DME (dimethyl ether), a chemical substance produced from methanol. The new plant is able to produce one million tons of DME per year on three production lines. Proficy Process Systems will control those lines and will take over two additional lines in 2008.
