Tutorial: Differential pressure sensors While working on the pressure sensor article in Control Engineering's February issue, I was struck with fact that differential pressure sensors represent a larger portion of the market than expected, which speaks to their versatility. Industrial wireless: Podcast with Honeywell's Jeff Becker on SP100 wireless While the tide of the WirelessHART standard advances, Honeywell Process Solutions is rowing against the current and calling for process users to do the same and hold out for something better. Jeff Becker, director of HPS' global wireless business explains why. Industrial award: Could you be the HART plant of the year? Nominations for the 7th annual HART Plant of the Year Award are now being accepted by the HART Communication Foundation. This global award is presented annually to recognize innovative use of HART communication in real-time industrial process plant applications. Temperature sensor: New design for sanitary applications A new 316 stainless steel indicating temperature device, designed for pharmaceutical, biotech, and food & beverage applications, is now available from Weed Instrument. Wireless instrumentation: Developer's kit demonstrates applications in plant Banner Engineering Corp. now offers an inexpensive test kit designed to test wireless instrumentation applications in your plant without disturbing any existing equipment. The kit simulates instrumentation level communication so you can test propagation in actual environments. Pressure regulator: Pneumatic controller saves natural gas Some of the areas where pneumatic controllers still thrive are natural gas pipelines. Often these are in remote locations where power is not routinely available, so the compressed gas is used in place of compressed air. This works, but given the growing cost of natural gas combined with its greenhouse gas characteristics, this is a much less attractive choice. Fisher's new C1 pneumatic controller reduces gas consumption and release, saving money and helping the environment. |
Siemens: Looking toward global success What does it mean when you see Siemens ads on TV and in your local newspaper? Siemens Energy & Automation CEO, Dennis Sadlowski, talks to Marc Moschetto and Peter Welander about Siemens' internal realignments and vision for the future. Listen to Podcast. |
