Upgrade: Canadian water treatment plant to get $23M in new controls

JMP Engineering Inc., an industrial system integration company, has received a $23 million contract for water treatment controls for a new plant in Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada. The upgrade includes a plantwide Ethernet network with a wireless radio component.

Sea legs: Controllers, HMIs earn marine certification

Evaluation for marine certification ensures that products will operate in high humidity and extreme hot and cold temperatures. It also tests for ability to withstand vibration, electromagnetic compatibility, and extent of radio frequency emissions. Two Allen-Bradley CompactLogix controllers and several PanelView Plus operator interfaces from Rockwell Automation recently were certified.

Embedded: VIA Pico-ITX adopted for compact industrial control PCs

The VIA EPIA PX10000 Pico-ITX board has been adopted by DeLock for use in its DIN-rail mounted DeLock DL-18HD industrial control PC. This is this first industrial design win for the Pico-ITX form factor, said Daniel Wu, vice president of VIA Embedded Platform Division.

Training: 'LabVIEW Mastery' online video-based training available

Enable Training and Consulting Inc., a developer of real-time data acquisition, process and machine control, motion control, and machine vision applications, has launched LabVIEW Mastery, an online, video-based training curriculum for LabVIEW programmers and system integrators. Three courses are offered — Beginner, Applications, and Professional — for commercial and academic use.

Standards: 494 BODs (business object documents) in OAGIS Release 9.2

The new OAGIS Release 9.2 standard features ISA95 Business Object Documents (BODs) related to production performance and production scheduling, and is backwardly compatible with OAGIS 9.0 and 9.1. A free download is available.
