Courtesy: TolomaticTolomatic’s ERD electric cylinders are now available with a reverse-parallel motor mount that makes a more compact package and belt reduction options that offer flexibility in sizing the motor. The motor is mounted in parallel with the actuator instead of inline, which reduces the length of the total package and, with the addition of a rear clevis pivot mount, provides greater versatility in mounting the actuator.

The ERD is an economical rod-style electric actuator designed as an alternative to pneumatic cylinders and an option for automating manual processes. The products are suitable for a wide variety of applications, including product changeovers, pick-and-place, pressing, diverting, heat-staking / sonic welding and more. The actuators can be built to order in stroke lengths up to 24 inches (609.6 mm).

The ERD electric cylinder family is available in four body sizes that are approximately equivalent to 5/8-in. (15.9 mm), 1-in. (25.4 mm), 1.5-in. (38.1 mm) and 2-in. (50.8 mm) bore pneumatic cylinders. The actuators are available in stroke lengths from 8 to 24 inches (203.2 mm to 609.6 mm), and forces up to 500 pounds (2,224 N). The ERD is compatible with most NEMA and metric mount stepper and servo motors to create a flexible, powerful electric actuator solution.
