One application for the value class of rack and pinion has been the 6 degree-of-freedom robot used for assembly. Taking into account all application requirements, a fully integrated system of gearbox, rack and pinion can be provided to speed time-to-realization for the project and create a cost-effective and robust linear motion solution, the company said. Wittenstein features a customized length and bolt pattern, 2-m lengths, and quality levels from DIN Q6 through DIN Q10 (ground and hardened). Customer benefits, the company says, include getting a customized rack and pinion as standard product, low cost linear actuation, and a reliable and low maintenance solution. Wittenstein was among IMTS 2010 exhibitors.
