Atul Upare, among Control Engineering Leaders Under 40 for 2010
Want to meet the next generation of manufacturing automation and controls leaders? In November 2010, Control Engineering highlights 19 young professionals from around the globe who are making their marks in everything from system design to academia. These leaders aim to inspire others to get involved in engineering and resolve local and global challenges through smarter applications of automation and control technologies. Meet Atul Upare ...
Atul Upare, 31
Senior Automation Engineer, 4 years
Zenith Technologies
Singapore
Job function: System Integration or Consulting
Academics: Bachelor of Engineering (Instrumentation & Control) from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology under University of Pune (India). Graduated in 2001.
Achievements: Over nine years of industrial automation experience since graduating in 2001. Four FDA validated projects executed successfully for GSK, Singapore. Successful and on-time project delivery (batch and continuous control) for clients like Genzyme, Sasol, Ranbaxy, Ashland, and Comilog in countries like Belgium, South Africa, the United States, France, and India. Expert in the following: Emerson DeltaV, Iconics, Rockwell design, development, testing, commissioning, and validation services.
Start in controls: While all my friends were interested in micro-design (embedded software, product development), I had an inclination towards the automation field where you could actually see how the plant runs based on the software you have actually designed. That's something you can't get to see in other sectors. Also, having gone through process and chemical engineering concepts during academics gave me the added advantage of optimizing the design ahead of the commissioning cycle.
