Network Integration - Wireless products: The APN-310N is a single radio Industrial 802.11a/b/g/n wireless LAN access point capable of link speeds up to 300 Mbps. This is a Control Engineering 2014 Engineers’ Choice finalist.Wireless in industrial applications has been around for a number of years. Traditionally, wireless was used in these applications as a networking solution where industrial Ethernet or Fieldbus was not feasible. In the past, user acceptance issues of perceived lack of reliability, suitability for control, and the ability to transmit in a busy environment hindered its adoption.

Today, however, acceptance of wireless technology has grown tremendously, therefore, creating demand for reliable and advanced wireless products. Antaira's APN-310N wireless AP/Client/Bridge provides the newest 802.11n Wi-Fi standard and available throughput of up to 300 Mbps; a solution that allows industrial devices on the plant floor to easily connect and improve throughput of an existing Wi-Fi network.

The device supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and utilizes MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) 2x2 transmission. It also offers excellent electrical performance with its two external R-SMA connectors and is compatible with a wide range of Wi-Fi antennas, making it a great device for not only short, but long-distance deployments. External antenna options allow better signal-broadcasting for improved wireless coverage and signal strength.

The APN-310N firmware offers long-range parameter fine-tuning which provides the access point with the ability to auto-calculate parameters such as slot time, ACK time-out and CTS time-out to achieve a longer range. In station mode, the unit provides an antenna alignment software tool to fine tune signal and maximize performance.

The APN-310N is designed to stand up to harsh industrial environments with an extended temperature model that operates reliably in temperatures from -35 to 70 C. It's small and rugged industrial design, coupled with key wireless benefits like mobility, flexibility, wider coverage, and advanced features provides a perfect solution for automation applications in the manufacturing, transportation, WWTP/utility and oil and gas industries.
