BOA Smart Camera - BOA is a fully integrated vision system in a compact smart camera format. This is a Control Engineering 2011 Engineers' Choice (EC) nominee.Dalsa's BOA M1280 is a high resolution, highly integrated smart camera that comprises all the elements of an industrial machine vision system. Offering superior image quality at a resolution of 1280 x 960 and operating up to 24 frames per second, BOA M1280 is designed to satisfy a wide range of application needs from positioning robotic handlers to complete assembly verification. Quality inspection and factory automation are ideal applications for the BOA smart camera.

The BOA M1280 is differentiated from other smart camera technology by offering greater value than any competitive product in its class. It incorporates multiple processing engines (CPU, DSP and FPGA), requires no software installation (application embedded) and is packaged to simplify factory integration. The 44mm cube style format and IP67 rated enclosure allows the BOA M1280 to easily fit into existing production lines, machinery or moving equipment without additional protective housing.

To simplify and reduce implementation costs, BOA utilizes standard industrial M12 cord sets for power, communication and lighting control. For applications that demand single cable solutions, BOA can be powered through the Ethernet cable. In this configuration, passive Power over Ethernet is supplied from a low cost breakout module inside the control panel.

Building on the strength of its software, Dalsa has evolved and embedded the complete functionality of iNspect software in BOA M1280. iNspect software is ideal for both first time and experienced vision users alike; it offers excellent inspection capabilities that can be readily applied across a multitude of applications. This easy-to-use, graphical point and click interface, allows users to rapidly prototype and deploy solutions, and it is available with a fully featured emulator for offline application development and debugging.
