Ethernet communication gateway, backplane for remote I/O system
Ethernet Remote I/O from Pepperl+Fuchs builds bridge between traditional field instruments and Ethernet, enabling users to benefit from fast data transfer rates.
Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced Ethernet Remote I/O - a new Ethernet communication gateway and backplane for the company’s established LB/FB remote I/O system. The gateway and backplane enable the remote I/O system to speak a new communication protocol, building a virtual bridge between traditional field instruments and Modbus TCP-based Ethernet with data transfer rates up to 100 Mb/s.
“Industrial Ethernet is a hot topic, and for good reason, as users can meet Division 2/Zone 2 or Zone 1 requirements with it. And integration into existing systems is easy because the Ethernet Remote I/O is based on the standard Modbus TCP protocol,” says Brian Traczyk, Product Manager.
“Ethernet Remote I/O uses existing, proven, in-use I/O modules, which now link all the functions required for process instrumentation to the Industrial Ethernet. They allow the combination of analog and digital signals in the same slave,” explains Traczyk.
The modules support:
- NAMUR type inputs
- Switching signals and solenoid valve outputs
- Temperature inputs
- Supply of 2 or 4-wire transmitters, proportional valves and positioners
