AEi’s latest design is comprised of enhanced standard AEi functional modules to deploy an automated active alignment system that optimally meets each customer’s manufacturing requirements. The end result is a high-precision, flexible automation system with faster cycle times for manufacturers of cameras used in automotive, medical, and consumer mobile device applications.
According to AEi Business Development and Chief Technology Officer Andre By, “Over the last six years, we have seen increasing demand for a highly flexible camera module active alignment and assembly platform that can provide much faster cycle time, in less floor space and with less need for custom fixturing. Our latest version of CMAT combines user defined requirements and enhanced standard AEi functional modules to produce the industry’s leading camera module active alignment and test platforms.
“It is our fifth generation design developed from over a dozen years of experience active optical alignment and miniature- and small-format cameras. Our multi-axis active alignment platforms are installed in R&D and volume manufacturing environments across Asia, Europe and North America with years of proven reliability," concluded By.
AEi Director of Engineering and Design Dan Tamasanis, added, "Our modular CMAT supports faster indexing of parts through the machine and features our new patent-pending multi-axis active alignment processes and algorithms. This enables AEi to provide the fastest possible cycle time for active alignment. The new CMAT design makes a return conveyor optional, reducing floor space requirements, as well as the number of custom work carrying pallets needed. This makes better use of available manufacturing space and saves our customers on tooling costs for a given camera design," Tamasanis concluded.
The fifth generation version of the CMAT camera module active alignment and test machine is shipping now.
