Protecting power supply outputs with accuracy

PISA 4-channel protection module from PULS Power Supplies allows sensitive and demanding loads to be connected to the same power supply without complications.

04/14/2011

PULS Power Supplies has introduced the PISA 4-channel protection module that reportedly allows sensitive loads and demanding loads to be connected to the same power supply without complications.

The PULS PISA module is similar to an electronic fuse, but it provides a precise switch off and no nuisance tripping. Sensitive loads such as a PLC are connected directly to the power supply. The demanding loads that are most times responsible for drops in the output voltage are connected through the 4-channel PISA module and only allows so much current to flow in order to prevent the power supply voltage from dropping below 21 V dc.

The PISA module design triggers on both current and voltage resulting in precise and accurate protection without having to depend on the power supply rating or the wire size and length. This protection also allows wire size to be determined based on each of the four outputs of the PISA unit and not on the output current of the supply, resulting in smaller wires being used. The outputs of the PISA module reportedly also meet the requirements of Branch Circuit Protection in accordance with UL508A section 31.1.2.
