WirelessHART seminar: international wireless communication standard

Upcoming dates for the educational seminar on WirelessHART technology presented by the HART Communication Foundation include locations in California, Tennessee, Texas, and Denmark, August - October 2011.

08/03/2011

An educational seminar on WirelessHART technology presented by the HART Communication Foundation provides information to users wanting to learn more about the international wireless communication standard. The vendor-neutral seminar, Using WirelessHART Technology in Process Industries, includes presentations by industry experts and live demonstrations of WirelessHART technology (IEC 62591 Ed.1.0; EN 62591).

“In addition to gaining valuable information about WirelessHART communication, users actually see firsthand the interoperability, reliability, and ease of use of this powerful wireless technology,” said Ron Helson, HART Communication Foundation executive director. “Not just data from one vendor’s device in another vendor’s software, but devices from nine different manufacturers forming a robust mesh network relaying data from one device to the other and integrating that data with wired solutions.”

During 2011 five seminars have been held in the U.S. and Europe with more than 200 users attending, according to the HART Communication Foundation. Additional seminars are scheduled this year in San Diego, Calif. on Aug. 18, Nashville, Tenn on Sept. 19, Port Arthur, Texas on Oct. 12, and Copenhagen, Denmark on Oct. 27. There is no charge to attend the seminars but seats are limited and registration is required. Users can view the current schedule and register online at wirelesshart.hartcomm.org.

Seminar topics include understanding and using WirelessHART technology in the plant environment and planning and implementing a WirelessHART project. The live demonstrations show the interoperability of WirelessHART gateways, devices and adapters from multiple manufacturers and illustrate the simple process of a single device joining the network.

The seminars are sponsored by Foundation member companies: ABB, Emerson Process Management, Endress+Hauser, MACTek, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, ProComSol, R.Stahl, and Siemens.

Get more exposure for your case study by uploading it to the Control Engineering case study database, where end-users can identify relevant solutions and explore what the experts are doing to effectively implement a variety of technology and productivity related projects.

These case studies provide examples of how knowledgeable solution providers have used technology, processes and people to create effective and successful implementations in real-world situations. Case studies can be completed by filling out a simple online form where you can outline the project title, abstract, and full story in 1500 words or less; upload photos, videos and a logo.
