Even with minimal motion programming experience, engineers can program complex motion profiles with Mitsubishi Electric Automation's QD77MS Simple Module for use with their iQ PAC platform. This is a Control Engineering 2013 Engineers' Choice finalist.Reducing engineering costs and minimizing learning curves associated with motion programming tools are critical factors in successfully bringing a new machine to market or online in a plant. Mitsubishi Electric Automation’s Simple Motion Module the QD77MS makes programming complex motion profiles easy even for engineers with minimal motion programming experience. With the ease of the position table feature and the mechanical editor system, users can create motion profiles with little more than drawing on their motion programming experience and intuition. For users who desire to achieve the ultimate in control and manufacturing quality, advanced motion functions such as camming profiles, registration, and full-fledged speed, position and torque control are also supported.

The QD77MS simple motion module is the newest member to the iQ family of expansion module options, available for use with Mitsubishi Electric’s iQ automation and control platform. The rack-based, multi-discipline, programmable automation controller (PAC) integrates PLC, Motion, CNC and Robotics into one solution. The QD77MS simple motion module offers many other important advantages and unique features. Controller compatibility translates to ensuring smooth transitions when opting to migrate to improved technology platforms, by providing tools that offer motion project diversion and project recycling capability.

Drive compatibility offers the ability to use older technology and newer technology servo amplifiers for actuation control depending on user’s capital investment and conversion timing preferences. A 300Mbps network communication speed, not only is system response but also data capacity providing full insight into the control dynamics. Important metrics, such as power consumption, can also be measured over this network. One software program is used to program and set-up PLC and motion control.
