The SDLM-025-070-01-01 direct drive linear motor from Moticont has a built-in encoder, and zero backlash and cogging. It is designed for applications such as manufacturing, semiconductor handling, inspection, medical procedure tables, antenna positioning, and agricultural equipment. The direct drive linear motor is just 1-in. in diameter and 2.75-in long. Inside the motor housing, the linear optical quadrature encoder is directly connected to the shaft. This direct drive linear motor has a stroke length of 0.500-in. and a continuous force rating of 22.2 oz. and peak force of 67.2 oz. This non-commutated direct drive servo motor features linear bearings, an integrated internal (1.25 micron resolution) quadrature optical encoder with differential outputs, and a non-rotating shaft. Direct coupling of the load or stage to the low inertia non-rotating shaft eliminates backlash and allows for high acceleration/deceleration. Both ends of the motor and shaft ends are drilled and tapped for easy integration into new and existing applications.
