Comau Inc. is reportedly the first U.S. company to obtain EN 16001 certification, after implementing energy consumption monitoring procedures and completing requirements to reduce energy use. This achievement is part of Comau’s global eCOMAU initiative, with certification also acquired at Comau facilities in Italy, France, Romania, Argentina and Brazil.

As part of the certification process, a Comau energy management team was put into place and trained in monitoring and reducing energy consumption, with the objective of sharing this knowledge and expertise with customers.

The EN 16001 standard provides a systematic approach to improving energy efficiency. The expertise acquired through implementation of the EN 16001 energy management system has been transferred into Comau product development and services for customers, like those offered by the eCOMAU business line, the company said.

Comau’s eCOMAU business line offers energy efficiency consulting and GreenFit solutions to help customers enhance automated manufacturing process while significantly reducing energy consumption, as well as Energy Management System implementation to help customers achieve EN 16001 certification, and Green Maintenance Service to help customers sustain their energy saving achievements.
