Flow meters for water applications

Parker Fluid Control Division add vortex shedding flow meters for water to product selections

February 10, 2011

Parker Fluid Control Division, manufacturers of the Skinner and Gold Ring lines of solenoid valves and the Sinclair Collins line of process control valves, introduces a line of Vortex Shedding Flow Meters as part of its expanding product portfolio.

These rugged inline flow meters are ideal solutions for applications utilizing water, water/glycol coolant and other low-viscosity fluids. They monitor the flow of cooling fluid for resistance welders, slurry pump seal water, machine coolant, and steam boiler feed water. Additionally, Parker Flow Meters can be used for cooling water to furnace walls and inductors in steel mills; cooling boiler feed pumps and turbine bearing cooling in power generation plants; as well as for rubber, mining, municipal wastewater treatment, and water addition in chemical and process applications. Designed for superior performance and durability, Parker Flow Meters feature no moving parts to clog or wear out, allegedly providing life-long reliability and requiring little maintenance. Further, the no-moving-part design makes the products well suited to monitor media with small particulates with uncompromised accuracy. The meters operate with NPT ports ranging from 1/4’’ – 2’’ in size and can handle flows from 4 – 200 GPM, with occasional over-ranging up to 125% of capacity without damaging the meter.

Parker Flow Meters feature 4-20 mA flow rate transmitters and can withstand working pressures from 10 – 300 PSIG. They are designed to operate efficiently at fluid and ambient temperatures from 35º – 150º F. CSA- and CE-certified, the flow meters are built with a stainless steel or bronze body with PVDF sensors and FKM seals.

The company supplies standard units equipped with a solid state relay, which customers can set to a pulse output or a flow alarm. User-friendly three-digit LED displays make the meters easy to use, and customers can further customize the product by selecting between GPM or LPM units of measurement.

The devices are easy to set up as they can be mounted in any position as long as proper installation instructions are followed. The flow meters require 10 – 30 VDC at 80 mA input power, attached via pin connectors, and are compatible with female NPT pipe connections. Parker Fluid Control Division offers a two-year warranty on this product line.
