The Wittenstein ternary actuator is an all-in-one linear actuator system that merges mechanics with intelligence – integrating controller, motor, amplifier and drive into one compact mechatronic device. Designed to meet the requirements for linear or rotary compact motion, the ternary expands upon the alpha gearbox competencies by combining Wittenstein’s robust electronic expertise which has seen success for over a decade in military and aerospace markets.

For rotary motion, the basic ternary device can be used alone or paired with an alpha gearbox. For linear requirements, a ballscrew or slider is added to the device. With complete integration and ease of programming, the ternary design represents the best in efficient engineering.

Setting parameters for functions is easy with the included programming software. Depending on the type of operation, the designer can also write a program that contains specific positions and motion profiles. With low voltage requirements, variety of control interfaces and no maintenance, the ternary all-in-one system is ideal in new applications as well as for retrofits and upgrades for pneumatics.
