MEMS motion sensor: Bosch

Bosch Sensortec introduces the smallest BMA220 g-sensor in LGA housing. This Triaxial digital sensor reduces surface area 55% over current 3 x 3 mm LGA housings, automatically recognizes specific movements, and needs no external microcontroller for signal analysis. The company says that, at 2 x 2 mm, BMA220 is the smallest digital acceleration sensor in LGA housing in the world.

The company says that, at 2 x 2 mm, BMA220 is the smallest digital acceleration sensor in LGA housing in the world. The MEMS unit has digital data output, four programmable measuring ranges fromife. BMA220 algorithms for motion recognition run internally on an ASIC. Motion recognition parameters can be programmed by the customer.
