Copa-Data announced that its zenon 6.50 industrial process control and visualization software has received certification for Microsoft Windows 7, meaning it fully supports the new operating system's quality and security standards. Located in Princeton, New Jersey, Copa-Data USA Corp. is a subsidiary of Copa-Data GmbH, an HMI/SCADA software vendor based in Salzburg, Austria. Clients include Coca-Cola, BMW and DuPont.
zenon 6.50, released in January 2010. features many system and graphic enhancements. zenon users can now benefit from these using Windows 7, in addition to Microsoft Vista and XP.
Markus Helbok , senior consultant at Copa-Data, said, "Having zenon 6.50 compatible with Windows 7 means it fully accepts the Windows 7 security criteria. The user account control implemented in Windows 7 is designed to prevent important system components from being damaged by a virus or malware. However, this results in limitations for any application developer who may not be able to write directly to the Windows directory, or who can't access certain areas of the registry. Application developers won't have this problem with zenon 6.50."
