Touchscreen controller with HMIWorks

ICP DAS USA introduces TouchPad, a touchscreen PLC with optional real time clock.

June 29, 2011

ICP DAS USA has introduced a touchscreen interface with logic and control all in one unit. ICP DAS TouchPads come with HMIWorks—a free programming development environment that allows you to program in C Language or Ladder Logic. Many demo programs are available to aid development and help cut down on time to market. TouchPads come with RS-485 or Ethernet communication and support Modbus RTU or Modbus TCP respectively. According to ICP DAS, these interfaces are perfect for home and building automation and are available in 2.8" versions that fit in electrical outlets. They can reportedly be used as touch screen interfaces for lighting control, gas detection, HVAC systems, restaurant automation and more.

TPD-280 is communicable over RS-485 and Modbus RTU and has a 2.8" TFT full color display. TPD-280U features a real time clock so the user can schedule events like heating, cooling, or lighting a room based on time.

The TouchPads are designed to survive in harsh environments and can sustain -20 C to 70 C operating temperatures. You can use TouchPad Touch Screen PLC’s with SCADA software since they communicate over common protocols like Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP which most software supports, according to ICP DAS.
