Meeting the demanding requirements of the aerospace, automotive, industrial processing, and test and measurement industries, the ExactComp EC80 from Cox Flow Measurement provides significant improvements in flowmeter performance under varying fluid flow conditions. The ExactComp EC80 is the ultimate electronic processor, providing total compensation to enhance flowmeter accuracy while extending the linear flow range over the repeatable range of the flowmeter. Packaging is provided for remote, direct, or embedded mounting to meet virtually any installation requirement. The ExactComp EC80 encompasses features to enhance flow measurement performance for frequency output flowmeters. The evolution of signal processing is demonstrated in this robust design, offering amplifiers that accept both 4 ohm and 10 ohm pickoffs, RTD temperature sensors, and the ability to sense rotors through aluminum flowmeter bodies.
The EC80 accepts dual-rotor frequency inputs, as well as temperature analog inputs for either single- or dual-rotor turbine flowmeters. The unit tracks all variables to compensate for viscous and inertial effects, using proven Strouhal-Roshko algorithms. Enhanced digital signal processing (DSP) technology allows exceptional signal characterization using a 32-bit floating-point processor at 150 MHz capable of a 100 speed of response while outputting linearized data in engineering units. The ExactComp EC80 can be paired with an Exact Series dual-rotor turbine flowmeter to provide extended range performance not obtainable by traditional single turbine rotor designs. UVC turndown is up to 60:1. The extra flow range capability often eliminates the need for manifold systems, which simplifies installation and lowers cost. The exceptional performance provided by the dual-rotor design enhances UVC curves and extends the usable measurement flow range. Flow straighteners are not required to control process fluid swirl, as the unique dual-rotor system cancels rotor acceleration effect. With flow straighteners, bearing diagnostics can be determined by monitoring the ratio of the rotors to detect wear or cleanliness.
