Pump Control: Variable-speed Drive

Variable-speed drives (VFDs) generally offer the capabilities of contactors and soft starters plus can accept control commands from other controllers or control and vary the speed themselves. This provides additional energy savings and can eliminate the need for other hardware in a system. Various drives are shown and features discussed using application examples.
