Courtesy: HoneywellHoneywell announced the OneWireless Video Solution, which allows plants to enhance their perimeter security and employee safety by deploying industrial video cameras over the OneWireless network.

The video solution brings together Honeywell Process Solutions’ (HPS) expertise in process control, industrial security and wireless communications to provide a comprehensive system consisting of wireless services, closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, Digital Video Manager and the OneWireless Network —all integrated with Honeywell’s Experion process control system and Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) security management system and integration platform.

The OneWireless Video Solution takes advantage of wireless technology’s flexibility by enabling video coverage in difficult-to-cable, difficult-to-reach, or unmanned locations. Integration with Experion and EBI allows operators to view alarms and events remotely and respond to issues quickly and safely. The OneWireless Video Solution can be installed in facilities operating within all industries, especially hazardous areas in the chemicals, oil and gas, refining and mining industries.

The HPS portfolio provides a turn-key system that combines distributed control systems (DCS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology with CCTV surveillance systems and a wireless local area network. The system takes advantage of the IEEE 802.11-based wireless networks found in industrial plants and the improvement in video data compression that allows users to stream larger amounts of video data and install numerous CCTV cameras on a single wireless Ethernet network. The ability to segregate video and process/sensor data allows customers to install the sensors, I/O devices and cameras on a single wireless network leveraging the investment in the OneWireless network infrastructure.
