As STV’s youngest engineering discipline leader, Cerino is responsible for managing all projects within the firm’s Buildings and Facilities Division’s New York structural engineering group from both a technical and business standpoint. Throughout his 17-year career, he has worked seamlessly with architects on many distinctive buildings, including the Shangri-La Hotel in New York and the Arquitectonica podium façade for the Cosmopolitan Casino in Las Vegas. Cerino also worked at Ground Zero starting on Sept. 12, 2001, where he assisted the New York Fire Department at the World Trade Center collapse site, evaluating the structural integrity of the intact, partially collapsed, and collapsed structures and determining the safest and fastest routes for accessing the core area and potential survivors. Cerino’s passion and drive for engineering and technology extends beyond his own career—he works closely with members of his team, helping them grow. Cerino makes it a point to do more at his company than just come to work every day, and more in his community than just going along for the ride. He leads the construction on an annual 10-day mission trip with his church, working throughout the U.S. and Central America over the past 12 years to assist with housing and infrastructure repair and construction. Cerino makes time for his children, music, sports, and reading, and he enjoys helping his 8-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter explore their interests in animals, sports, and various cerebral, word, and logic games.
